I am livid!

I just received a letter from UnitedHealthcare telling me that my colonoscopy was covered, but only at an independent outpatient facility.

So essentially, my insurance , which costs me $900 every month, is saying, “Yes, the procedure is covered, but everything around the procedure? The room, the facility, the care team? Not our problem.”

And it arrived AFTER I have had it completed, never giving me a chance to see where and if I can get a colonoscopy in an independent surgical facility. All the docs I know perform it through a hospital. At least in my area.

This is the game.

This is the trap.

This is the fraud built into our system.

People aren’t skipping care because they’re irresponsible, they’re skipping care because the system is unaffordable, unpredictable, and intentionally confusing.

And as a physician, I’m tired.

Tired of fighting insurance companies for basic tests.

Tired of justifying medically necessary treatments to people who have never touched a patient in their lives.

Tired of watching my patients suffer because an AI program is set on autopilot to “deny,” “delay,” or “partially approve.”

I'm so done being a compliant player. I am the data collector not the healer.

And as hard and painful as it is to say good-bye to my insurance based primary care patients, many do not have the resources to follow me, yet I have no choice but to walk-away from this broken system.

I am building Wild Woman Wellness Medicine with the intention to practice medicine the way it was meant to be practiced: free from the games, loopholes, and denials.

No middle layers.

No "measures to meet" that determine how high I am compensated.

I will be supported by the people who I support. How beautiful is that?

I’m done with the fight, and I’m choosing a model that honors both my patients and the physician I am.

If you’re tired too, you can join me in the DPC movement.
